ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June 2023 revealed
Australia all-rounder Ash Gardner has once again showed her versatility by being crowned the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June 2023.

Gardner edged out Ashes rival Tammy Beaumont and West Indies captain Hayley Mathews for the top honour and in the process claimed the third monthly award of her career thus far to go with the ones she won in December in 2022 and February this year.
“Thank you to everyone who voted me the ICC Women’s Player of the Month,” said Gardner.
“To win an Ashes Test match at Trent Bridge was a special moment for our team and I’m happy I was able to contribute towards the win. Winning a Test match overseas is one of the biggest challenges in cricket, it’s certainly a game that we will remember for a long time to come.
“The women’s Ashes series has seen record-breaking crowds in England, it’s an exciting time for our sport and I’m thrilled to be part of it.”

The Australia star came to the fore when her team needed her most yet again during June as she helped herself to a magnificent 12-wicket haul in the one-off Test against England at Trent Bridge.
Gardner claimed the big scalps of Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophia Dunkley and Beaumont when collecting decent figures of 4/99 during England’s first innings, but trumped that effort when picking up eight wickets in the second innings to help clinch victory for Australia.
The 26-year-old registered the second-best figures of all time in women’s Tests when picking up 8/66 to ensure Australia beat their rivals and took an early advantage in the multi-format Ashes series.
Gardner also scored a valuable 40 runs during Australia’s first innings, living up to her mantle as one of the premier all-rounders in women’s cricket.
